What we do
Ma Tiger Foundation is a catalyst for beneficial and constructive changes in disenfranchised communities throughout South Africa. In popular slang, ten Rand notes are called tigers. Through the monthly collection of tigers, and larger contributions from corporations and others funders, we will be able to provide essential funding to grassroots communities to address deep-rooted problems. Still in our infancy (inception 9th August 2023) volunteers began participating directly in charitable activities and we have launched a pilot project in Mautse Township in rural Free State.
Why?
South African society experiences alarmingly high effects of historic, political, legal, economic and cultural factors which violate human rights. Believing in the power of community-led solutions, we are supporting and equipping community activists with the tools to create positive change, claiming agency in shaping their future.
How?
Our inaugural facilitated discussion (dialogue) took place with women aged 16 – 65. They identified the challenges in their community and discussed potential solutions. Available resources have been identified within the community, and action now is exploring external support networks to address the prioritised needs. Join us in investing in people to overcome adversity and build a just society.
