Ma Tiger projects aim to make a tangible impact by empowering communities through providing essential resources and support to foster sustainable development and lasting improvement.
Women of all ages in the beneficiary community of Rosendal have discussed root causes of their deep and radical social problems in facilitated, interactive dialogues during 2024.
They have identified ways towards solving these ills. The seven different committee groups focus on specific challenges (e.g. child-headed family support).
Ma Tiger Foundation has committed to raise the capital required to reach community transformation goals.
Rosendal
Rosendal is a rural town in the Free State with an estimated population of 12 000.
Mautse township in Rosendal suffers a staggering 70% unemployment with poor service delivery exacerbating the situation. Substance abuse is a prevalent issue in the community, contributing to a complex web of related problems including rape, domestic violence, murder, depression, and suicide.
We are ready to put interventions in place to heal Rosendal and to show South Africa what civil society can do to create a just society. A society of care, inclusivity, mutual respect, equality and equity.
We’re collecting seed-funding to establish the following enterprises:
- Manufacture of reusable/washable sanitary pads (keeping girls in school during their cycle and reducing plastic waste into landfill),
Target R58 000 - Manufacture of compost (collecting local restaurants and household biological waste – to make quality compost and keeping the waste out of landfill).
Target R47 000 - Manufacture of rocket-stoves for cooking and warmth (uses sticks rather than logs, reducing unsustainable tree harvesting).
Target R22 000
Developing resourceful humans by means of in-situ education in Creating and Sustaining Enterprises, Financial Literacy and Marketing – the Enterprise Division is set to bring income and meaningful work into the township, reducing poverty.

The partnerships focus on supporting community development: a holistic approach to the interconnected issues of food security, working towards gender-based peace, addressing mental health issues and including enterprise development for economic equality. This will ultimately lead to more resilient and thriving communities.
South Africa’s shame…
- Highest rate of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome in the world (more than 14 x the global average)
- Highest world rate of alcohol-related road deaths
- Ranks third in the world of highest reported rapes (after Lesotho and Botswana)
- Most polluted dam (Hartbeespoort) in the Southern Hemisphere
Ours is a country in crisis, the wounds of the past have been swept under the carpet, and in its wake is a toxic cocktail of addictions, social alienation, crime, hunger, poverty and inequality.
Having being heard, the women of Rosendal believe that a BRIGHTER FUTURE IS POSSIBLE. They dream that a RECREATIONAL CENTRE with extra-mural activities, counselling and a fellowship for substance abuse recovery will bring restoration and well-being.
Contribute your monthly tiger, spread the word and this becomes a possibility!
